Your brand is speaking without your permission.

Dear business owners, here is something you should know about your brand.

Whether you plan it or not, your brand is already saying something.

Before you begin that pitch to investors, your brand has already said a lot.

And the scary part is people are listening.

Even in your silence, it still speaks volumes.

Everything you do or don't do adds volumes to what your brand is saying.

Here are some things your brand is communicating with or without your knowledge.

I am inconsistent: if your colours, voice, or visuals keep changing.

I am cheap: if your design looks rushed or the copy sounds generic (no professional touch to it).

I am not serious: if you rarely show up or communicate value.

I don’t know who I’m talking to: if your message is all over the place.

I am unforgettable: if your story and style are aligned, clear, and consistent.

You can trust me: if your actions match what you promise.

You have to be intentional about the kind of message you want your brand to communicate.

You're not the only person in business, so you can't afford to leave things to chance.

Sit down and evaluate your brand today and decide to be very intentional about your messaging.

It's more than lines and shapes.

A logo design is not just random shapes, lines, curves and fonts put together.

It's a visual story of a brand.

It's a symbol that speaks for your business even before you open your mouth to speak.

So it has to be carefully thought after.

It's a thought process that is very deep and takes a lot of time.

A logo must communicate a meaning that relates to the brand story, the brand goals, the brand's audience and everything in between.

A logo doesn't always have to show practically what you do in it, but it has to represent your business name and have a meaning that indicates what you do.

There are several thoughts that go into creating a logo; here are a few:

1. Meaningful: it has to have a meaning and must relate to the brand's central message and its goals.

2. Simplicity: it has to be simple and memorable. A logo doesn't have to have a lot going on in it.

3. Strategic symbols: from the colours used to the lines, shapes and fonts, everything communicates meaning, values, industry, tone, etc.

Next time you need a logo, don't just look for a fancy logo.

Ask your designer, what is this logo saying about this brand?

If it's saying nothing, then it's just lines and symbols.

To your consistency, add clarity.

We have been taught over and over again how important it is to be consistent with whatever we are doing.

The importance of consistency cannot be overemphasised.

It's a necessary ingredient for whatever one wants to do in life.

Most people who are winning in life are the most consistent folks you'll ever see.

But here is the thing: consistency without clarity will yield little or no results.

No matter how many times you do the wrong things, you'll never get a positive result.

Using a wrong formula more than one hundred times will not change the results.

You have to understand that it's not just about being consistent, but being consistent doing the right things.

Clarity of purpose is as important as consistency itself.

They work hand in hand to give you the result you want.

An entrepreneur who is consistent in doing the right thing for three months will get more results than another who's consistent but doing the wrong thing for five years.

You have to sit down and ask yourself some very important questions as regards what you're doing.

If you're a startup brand or business owner, before you start pushing your product to the market, clearly define who it's meant for.

Clearly identify who is the best fit for your product.

These little things save you from wasting time and resources.

So today I admonish you to not just be consistent, but make sure you're consistent and doing the right thing.

It's ok to pause and evaluate yourself; it's not weakness, it's wisdom.

Happy new week, folks.

Do have a great one.

The best form of wealth you can have is people.

While we emphasise the need to make money so we can live a good life, uplift our family and be of tremendous help to people around us, let's never forget that true wealth isn't just cash but humanity.

The best form of wealth is believed to be people and building quality relationships.

There is what having people can give that money can't.

If all you've got is some money in the bank and a few dollars at hand, trust me, you're still very, very far from being rich and achieving true happiness.

There is this support that comes from having people that money can't give.

There is that counsel that will save your life that can only come from people.

As a people, let us always have at the back of our minds our collective humanity.

It's always humanity first before anything.

Today is Saturday, and you're alive today for a reason.

Not just for yourself but for others.

Show kindness and love to others.

Check up on people it's been a while since you heard from.

Revive old friendships and connections.

Render assistance to those that need it if you have the capacity to do so.

Say hi to new people and build meaningful connections.

Compliment people that do things that you like.

Encourage people who, despite all odds, are still showing up strong and consistently.

Take care of yourself as well.

Have enough rest, as it's the weekend.

You can't give what you don't have; you need to be at your best self to be able to help others.

Have a great weekend.

Here is a huge mistake many startups and founders make that is costing them their brand.

If there is one mistake I see founders, start-ups, and business owners make, it is assuming that everyone is their target audience.

They want to do business with everyone.

Yeah, it is true that marketing and business in general are numbers games, but you have to understand that you can't serve everyone.

No, you cannot.

Here is what you should know.

Even if you're selling long life and prosperity for just a few dollars, not everyone will patronise you. Trust me on this.

The biggest mistake you can make as a startup founder is not clearly defining your target audience and assuming that your business is for everyone.

When you clearly define your target audience and the set of people your product is meant for, it saves you time, energy, and resources.

You then know how and where to channel all your money and time when marketing.

This is very important but often times overlooked.

When you try to serve everyone, you'll end up serving no one at all.

Be specific and define your mission and the people the product is meant for.

Now that you're informed, don't make this mistake again.
